A duck with glued fins

Yesterday,  I stood up in front of my canvas, having in mind the last 4 days I spent,  struggling with my charcoal portrait to settle the general proportions, feeling like a duck with glued fins.😭

Then, I read an article of a Milan Art coach on the way we learn, as a spiral, not understanding all information in one spot, and I found the courage to go ahead 🙃.

So, stood up in front of my easel, brush in a rather shaking hand, my notebook filled of notes on Elli's  video, the computer on, to re-watch the beginning of the lesson concerning the proportions, and my ready model.

I took a deep breath and go on.

A quarter past 2h later, I 've done with it and share this with you.😌

Autocritique :

Nowadays, I came so low in my self-confidence concerning the portraits that I consider that I did my best on that one ! 😵‍💫

However, I can see that

* I forgot to use all the colours on my palette, that gives almost a monochromatic work.

* I forgot to use the black as well, so I didn't push my values further enough.

* As concerns the proportions, I think the face is slightly tilted  towards the right, instead of the top. I could have rised up her face a little bit more, as well as her mouth. We see too much of the right eye, and I probably did the eyes too big.

But, in a 2h time frame, I think it's not too bad.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas 🎅.
